Obolo
Joo Chiat Road has many interesting small cafes and restaurants that usually only people living near that area will visit.
Vinest has been to Joo Chiat a couple of times and at this small little corner, we found this bakery cum patisserie. It doesn't have much pastries, in fact, the main highlights of the cafe were the cakes. We've walked past Obolo a couple of times late in the night usually after dinner, and the cafe would be closed. This time round, we specifically went down to Joo Chiat a little earlier just to give this cafe that is said to be using French, European and Japanese pastries as inspiration for stylish and comtemporary presentation.
When we first stepped into the store, one glance and we were able to oversee the entire cafe. They do have seats and tables, but the place is relatively small if you were to compare it with local pastry joints like Bakerzin and Coffee Bean.
As it was our first time there, we went with the usual impromptu question - what are the recommended cakes? The girl at the counter was quite friendly and she went along to introduce us some of the store's "best sellers". She mentioned the Nosiette and Mango Passion. Nosiette would be the chocolote mousse cake while Mango Passion was a cheesecake based.
Mr Vinest thought that the staff was rather "unprofessional" as she wasn't really sure of which cake to introduce because her first line was "all the cakes are very good". haha which i would love to believe and try every single one of them! sadly, our stomachs could only take so much that day as we were just opting for appetizers.
After much raving about which cheesecake to try, we settled down for the chocolate cheesecake. It looks really cute with the macaron on top.

Can you see the huge chunk of choc at the bottom of the cake? yum yum.
I love the cheesey , sweet and sour taste of the cake. Will definitely be coming back for MORE! :D
